Last Wednesday, January 14th saw the opening of “Icons of Art” at Opera Gallery Dubai, the regional locale of the Opera Gallery network. Marking a milestone, “Icons of Art” is the Dubai gallery’s first exhibition solely dedicated to contemporary masters who significantly influenced 20th century art.

Key works including Renoir’s oil on canvas Deux Filles Dans un Pré (Deux Femmes Dans L’Herbe – 1910), Miro’s pastel and pencil work with Femmes dans la nuit (1977), Longo’s use of charcoal with Study of a Tiger Head (2012) and various silkscreens from Andy Warhol were on display to illustrate works of brilliance from various art styles and genres and pay homage to these modern virtuosos.

It was a remarkable evening for Opera Gallery. The caliber of “Icons of Art” showcases Opera’s on-going commitment to offer the region a diverse selection of globally sought after and inspirational contemporary art. Icons demonstrates the gallery’s admiration to the masters of the craft, while at the same time bring this level of art to the region,” said Sylvain P. Gaillard, General Manager of Opera Gallery.

The opening night of a meticulously curated selection of nearly 70 works from exemplary contemporary masters saw an array of VIP’s and the region’s elite. Key attendees included: Opera Gallery’s founder, Gilles Dyan, the director of the French Institute Denis Douveneau, Ms. Isabelle Jaouen, founder of luxury chocolates Forrey Galland, and Abdul Samad representing Montegrappa Italia, amongst many others.

As key supporters for the evening, guests enjoyed macaroons and chocolates from Forrey & Galland and Montegrappa Italia exhibited key pieces from their collection.
