Spring Breezes (2)… Rami Al-Ali
It’s not very usual that we see celebrated designers from Syria, but Rami Al-Ali has defied this rule and proved to be one of the few Arab designers who can actually stand out. Established in 2001 in Dubai, Rami Al-Ali Couture has gained popularity among Arab divas and celebrities, till his creativity has transcended all boundaries and we saw his works on international celebrities. His designs bring in the Arab mystique along with a touch of modernity that is usually seen in his use of innovative fabrics and cuts.
I am bringing you some unique gowns from Al-Ali’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection, which I am sure you will find truly impressive. What has caught my attention is the use of fabrics in that collection. Some fabrics had very intricate embroidery and structural forms that resembled to a great extent Origami works. His Spring/Summer collection has not been confined into floral fabrics like what we have seen in most designers’ collections, but the structural geometrical patterns and cuts, which were in absolute harmony with those wonderful pastels, were to-die-for.
