Least Favorite Beauty Products for 2014

Least Favorite Beauty Products for 2014! 2014 has been a beauty-full year for me on so many levels. I have had my share of trying out dozens of beauty and makeup products, not because I’m just a makeup junkie, but I have been also keen on sharing with you all my recommendations that have absolutely nothing to do with PR propaganda.

As 2014 is FINALLY coming to an end, I am sharing with you my least favorite products which I have been disappointed with and would surely advise you NOT to purchase them under any circumstances.

The Eyebrow Liner from Flormar (Natural Brown)

Don’t let this “natural” brown eyebrow liner trick you into believing that you’d get a natural effect by any means! It has the finishing effect of a child’s water coloring crayon on your face and thus it would be a total waste of money (45 LE). For a more natural effect, go for powder-based products, such as the Body Shop Brow Powder.

The Precision Artliner from Flormar

Well, it is such a disappointment that Flormar has made it twice in this list. Their products are highly accessible; they can be found in almost every mall around Egypt, they come in somewhat attractive packaging and you’d think that you are getting a good bargain. However, they are not high-end products. There are a few products that you could invest in, such as their nail polishes and eye-pencils.

Despite having a perfect pitch-black shade, this precision artliner has proved to be a flop! The brush is not very precise so you don’t have full control while drawing your cat-eye or a simple line. By time, the liquid becomes more of a gel liner and thus the brush utterly fails to perform its function as it loses its shape.

(If you already have this product, you can apply it first to an angle brush so that you can better control your lines.)

Le Prisme Eyeshadow Quartet by Givenchy

Don’t let the big “Givenchy” name trick you! I was one of those silly girls who used to think that pricey products are always the best. Alas! I spent around 450 LE on this miniature quartet palette just for no great effect. The colors are not pigmented enough. You would have to apply several layers on your lids to have a strong obvious shade, but still it looks too soft. Unfortunately, this product has nothing to offer apart from the sleek packaging.

The POREfessional PRO Balm by Benefit Cosmetics

Here is another overpriced and overrated beauty product that is widely supported by dozens of beauty bloggers around the world. I read many reviews online and thought it would be a great addition to my set. So, I asked a friend to buy it for me on her way back from Qatar. As I eagerly received it, I soon became disappointed with a product that obviously fails to fulfill its promises with a silky finish. It has very subtle effect when it comes to minimizing pores. I have some wide pores underneath my eyes and I noticed no dramatic effect when I apply the product while prepping for my makeup. Nothing special!
