Arab Celebrity Style: Queen Rania
A great example of how modern Arab women should be. She is not only one of the most powerful women in the world (According to Forbes magazine in 2010 & 2011) due to her humanitarian work and endless philanthropist endeavours, but she is also regarded as a Queen of Style.
Queen Rania has been spotted a zillion times all around the world; she is astonishingly elegant in whatever she wears. Whether it is a casual day dress with a biker leather jacket on top, or a regal evening gown, Queen Rania nails it all the time.
In an interview with Vogue Magazine in 2009, Queen Rania said “Maybe clothes are a form of creative expression for me. An outlet. Because I don’t get to express myself creatively through my official duties.” What a way to express oneself! Her unfussy hairdos, light makeup and simple gowns are main keys to her appeal and enigmatic charm.
She is known for her love for well structured knee-length dresses and ensembles that are usually accompanied with statement belts that accentuate her figure. Neutral colors and shades of blue have been spotted on Queen Rania several times, and they have proved several times to be the perfect colors for her complexion. What also comes across very clearly below is a very interesting hybrid of dress. In her casual Queen Rania leans clearly towards very European light colours, light fabrics, and a very classic chic look.
However, she has also been known for her support for Arab designers, such as: Elie Saab and Krikor Jabotian who has created a daytime look for Her Majesty to attend Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee.
Her Majesty has also been collaborating and supporting other local yet promising designers like the flourishing Jordanian brand; Aennis Eunis.
On Jordan’s Independence Day in 2012, Queen Rania has been spotted wearing a beautiful traditional dress which she paired with a simple clutch adorned with Arabic calligraphy by Aennis Eunis. The clutch was only made in Metallic Bronze and Cream just for Her Majesty. However, other colors of that same clutch have been among the brand’s best selling items later on. When asked about his collaboration with Queen Rania, Anas Shanaah, Creative Director of Aennis Eunis, has expressed his big admiration for Her Majesty’s fashion style, saying: “Her Majesty has been a symbol of balanced taste (east and west); an inspiration that I followed since the start of my fashion career.”
Not only does Queen Rania capture people’s hearts with her exquisite and versatile style, but she is known for being down-to-earth. Krikor Jabotian, for instance, has commented on Her Majesty’s openness to suggestions and daring spirit to try on different accessories which were not “fine jewelry”. Such a spirit has encouraged Krikor to unleash his creativity.
As for her evening and formal attire, you see a much greater influence of Moroccan and ethnic, you will see in the gallery below a strong sense of this across her formal attire. What inspired Queen Rania to select these styles, and what do the designers and celebrity stylists say about her choices?
